I think that's half right, I'm pretty sure Trump is serious about extracting rare earth minerals and energy revenue from Ukraine before all is said and done, THEN leaving what Russia hasn't already invaded and annexed for Russia to mop up, enslaving all the Ukraians when they do

Little known fact, Zelensky also claimed peace could be negotiated with Putin back when he ran for presidential elections and won by a landslide. It was only after giving negotiations another genuine try and seeing that fail, did Zelensky see the true nature of Putin
