Before the new kitten arrives, I’ve been talking to Sherlock to explain what a wonderful thing it is to have a cat—he’ll have his very own cat. I hope he won’t sit on the baby👀

Aw, they’re so cute! 🤩I was planning to ask you about yours; do you think it’s better to have a female? I’m a little nervous because Sherlock is a big cat, but he’s such a sweetheart. My concern is that sometimes he can’t control his strength, and he might accidentally hurt the little one
Than a kitten would be ok but not so tiny. 6-8 months would be ideal. Otherwise you’ll have to separate them when they are alone- just in case.
If he was older I was going to suggest to get an adult or two kittens. Kittens are very active and can overwhelm old cats, but yours is still at a play age.
Male or female does not make a huge difference - the biggest one is females tend to be more evasive and protect themselves (hide more) and males are usually more playful. But I have seen exceptions to both, after all gender is a construct ;)

It took a while for Hugo and newbies to feel completely comfortable with each other, but now they cuddle together :)
