And now the talk of the like general obsolescence of the museum facilities, who knows when things will actually get sorted. I'd like to say I'm surprised they didn't get it open for the Olympics, but I'm really not.

It's not a great look for the Louvre, but I can think of several major European museums that are currently in the midst of a renovation or about to start.

I mean, you have the Pergamonmuseum that is going to have ended up being fully or partially closed for nearly 25 years, provided they actually hit their stated fully reopening date of 2037. Which I read recently that 2043 is actually a more likely target.

Yeah, that's one I was thinking of, alongside the British Museum's upcoming renovation, and the MNR sites in Rome received that funding a couple of years ago to undergo a big renovation and refit.

Didn't realize the British Museum was about to do one; any idea when it's supposed to start? There were already several rooms closed the last few times I went. In the same vein, I'm curious to see if the MANN 2 is going to open as scheduled next year. Seems an incredibly optimistic timeline...
