Growing data centers were wild, back in the 90s. Utter chaos. I worked for a place that was ramping up, and my office was commandeered to become more rack space, and I ended up working from home.

I only got to work remotely very occasionally in the 00s
A bunch of us mostly chatted via TinyMUSH already, anyway, so it didn't much matter if I was physically there, or not. And I was doing Unix systems programming for the Ops department at an ISP, so all I really needed to do my job was a Unix command line.
