Why anyone could do this to one who put her trust in them. How love can be so callously repaid. And how she has found the courage to change everything for all French and maybe all western women.
When asked why go public "Its their shame not mine" helped me enormously.
Some men would say "not all men". Not all men her husband asked said yes. Out of 100 3 said no...we've no idea why they said no but what we do know is they didn't report it to police enabling continued sexual abuse.
Her call to end the downplaying of sexual assault and the end to misogyny has never been more important. I’m getting on a bit and it feels much worse than when even I was a young woman and it was shit enough then.
As a survivor myself,l don't have words for how much l admire and love this woman.
I still can't talk about some of my SAs even with closest friends,l cannot imagine the monumental strength it takes to do what she did.
I've followed this story since it first broke, I have so much respect for this womans honesty, bravery and resilience, she deserves her justice and peace thereafter
I 100% agree……but I also hope and think the rights of women within many countries’ policing and justice systems is downplayed, minimised or ignored and I am not just talking about Muslim countries. I mean even in the west.
Sorry, what? This is happening right now in France. What are you talking about of course it’s everywhere. Please keep that “not just Muslim countries” nonsense to yourself while you read more.
This victim-blaming tactic is often used by perpetrators in criminal & family law: “If he was abusive, why haven’t you removed your last name?!” This attempt to weaponize our name against us is proof of their misogyny.
It’s not “his” name. It’s mine, my kids, my in-laws. None of us are his property.
it is hard to imagine the sheer horror and dread, violation, all of it she has gone through
hard to imagine a more evil bastard too...I cannot apologise for men, and i have nothing to apologise for...but i don't half get the urge to...what a fucking travesty of humanity jesus wept, it is horrific
Thank you for your post! I had not been aware of the courage demonstrated every day by this woman. Quietly doing the right things to help her grandchildren see her courage!
Knowing really... nothing about the French justice system, this suggests he didn't plead guilty. With everything else she's been through, she also endured a trial. I can't summon the words to describe him. As for Mme Pelicot - character, courage, resilience and fortitude have a new definition.
"Pleading guilty" is no option in France for crime categorised offenses such as, murder, kidnapping and rapes. This means that criminals HAVE to face a trial and hopefully, give their victims a sentiment of justice.
I haven’t quite worked out why he’s giving evidence as a defendant & why he’s on trial himself but that will simply be due to my inability to commit sufficient time to getting to grips with it all

Mine too. Woman of the year. This year or any.
She’s refused the ‘shame’, and returned it where it rightly belongs.
And, like, "aggressive questioning"?
WTH?

I thank her for that.

Continuez, Gisèle, tout le monde est à vos cotés!

But her case is a sad reflection of what the world has become when it comes to anti-women sentiments
A beacon ❤️
Let us all have courage.
