Well, that didn’t happen to me, but to be fair, I had stocked up on toilet paper (Costco) well before the lockdowns, so I wasn’t all that unhappy.

The most visible social disinhibition to me at the time was the increased reckless and belligerent driving I saw. DC highway driving in 2020 was terrifying.

I worked as a dog walker in the years before and after the 2020 lockdowns. The difference in accepted behavior, both of people and animals, in and around dogs was horrific.

I often thought in 2020 that if I were still with my ex husband, with all of the fear and scarcity and anxiety that one of us would have been dead. Our personalities had become deeeeeply incompatible

Actually not what I meant. I meant that masks presented a too good to true opportunity for people to commit crimes. And it grew from there.

So, that might be true but as someone who’s worked retail you’d be surprised, at least in my market, how many people would steal from us and not wear masks in 2020/21.

people deciding to make a huge fuss over masking had a lot to do with it. I wore a mask in indoor public places and strangely, I didn't lose my entire mind.

But I can certainly see how people with adult-onset oppositional defiant disorder would be triggered by the notion of mandated mask wearing in public spaces to reduce harm to the community from a novel airborne respiratory virus.
