The demand for the measles vaccine is so high in Texas that they are now RUNNING OUT of them. I have always said it would come to this. Science will always exist. Politics will never usurp it.

Great idea EXCEPT CVS, etc are not receiving their supplies because they are all being sent to TX (as I was told at multiple CVS in the Philly metro area). Please do t scream at the pharmacies.. they are just as concerned as you!

I got one in PA last week. My CVS was having trouble getting them from the supplier (maybe they were sending them to Texas?) so I found another location that had one dose in their fridge.

I was born in 1961. I asked my doctor if we needed to check my titers. He said if I had the vaccine as a child, I was 95% protected for life so no booster needed.

I'm just, getting it. I have an appointment tomorrow. Every time there's a measles scare I worry that I probably only got one dose, since I was an 80s Kaiser kid and they weren't trying to pay for a non required dose. Looking forward to just having this off my list of concerns for good

There was a vaccine used in the 60s that did not provide as much long term protection compared to more modern ones (that's why those born 1957-1968 are recommended to get a single booster). If unsure of vaccine history or worried a quick blood titer will see if you need the booster as well.

Worked for a pediatrician decades ago and he had his nurses/office staff vaccinated again when we had an unvaccinated child come into the office. He was concerned that we may not have immunity from the ones we got as kids in the 1960’s.

FYI: I did some research for myself: if a person has been in the military, they received the MmR shot in boot camp unless they had a waiver. In my case I got the original measles (dead cells) shot in 1963, moderately effective, but before the MmR was common. In the Army 1976 I got the new one.
