I love these comments about Ohio being pro-Trump … as a historically deeply purple state, with blue cities, completely screwed by gerrymandering. You guys really understand electoral politics. Great job.

Look way harder at our politics here. No one cares about our politics until there’s a presidential election - instead of paying attention to what sets up the GOP for an Ohio win. We are fcked via corruption, the school board is toast, it’s really really bad and we fight it hard.
Gerrymandering does have an effect on turnout over time. It can increase that "why vote when it doesn't make a difference" attitude. I think it's the wrong attitude to have, but have definitely seen that here.
I live in Ohio. The moment Brown was even a question for re-election, this state went red. We've gone further right than even Kasich, who was a Tea Party darling like 12 years ago.
It’s been wild to see unfold. We used to be on LGBTQ travel blogs as underrated and now we are attacking trans kids at school. I swear if they pass this bill to take the bag from weed taxes and centralize it for pilfering, I will lose it.
No, of course I don’t, and you’re the one who brought up gerrymandering, not me. You guys elected Vance to the Senate in 2022 and DeWine to the statehouse in 2018. That’s not explained by gerrymandering.
No kidding, but it’s explained by literally a decade of far right GOP meddling at a state level, because no Republican has ever won the White House without Ohio. They did notice the pattern before Trump - shocker that we suddenly went red, or maybe related to the coup being set-up for years? Hm!
