What’s sad is that this is true - but only for companies with execs at the right hand of Trump like Bezos and others. That’s it. Everyone else goes under by design so that the too large to fail multinational megacorps are all that is left standing.
Oh, absolutely! It’s just a huge shakedown. It’s like the tarrifs on my country, we have a free trade agreement but Trump wants us to get rid of hate speech laws as part of his demands for a trade deal. He’s about to learn the hard way that my country won’t be changing any laws, especially for him.
Stonemaier games has NEVER taken a political stance like this, they've taken mildly progressive/tolerant/humanist stances but this is a totally different ball game
I am part of the Gloomhaven 2nd Edition printing backerkit group and I know Cephalofair Games is in the same boat. I wish you the best of luck - this one time I'd pay the tariff if I had to but I don't even think they can ship and they've had this in the pipe for a year too
Anyone supporting this administration wanted the gaming out of gaming. It’s an industry that will disappear if this goes on. Kudos to Stonemaier, everyone who can fight, should.
Good for them. Legally, they're on strong ground- the tariff power granted to the President is explicitly only for use during emergencies, so Trump declared "I wanna do tariffs!" to be an emergency and went nuts with them.
So under a not-so-corrupt justice system, they'd win. Wish we had one.
I mean, if the act was unconstitutional or illegal in some way you could.
If Congress passed a bill that said “anyone named ASCII Goatse on social media is required to pay 100% of their income as taxes”, you would be able to sue them as it would be an unconstitutional bill of attainder
So the question is, are these tariffs Trump is imposing ultra vires acts, or are they being exercised lawfully and constitutionally. If they are lawful and constitutional acts, then they will lose the case.
In this case, they've proven themselves to be running a good business, and will do everything to ensure they deliver, but this is somehow the same person that follows Jordan Peterson on Twitter and I'm not really sure how those two things manage to coexist.
it would not surprise me if someone goes so hard on making a version that's set in 2025 they get arrested for designing a document that is an actual credible threat
Emailed them. Thanks for letting this be know. I was hoping to join a class action, but didn't see anyone offering emails or contacts from the few articles/cases of people doing it. Appreciate it!
Which is really the truth. The vast majority of gamers were happy to keep politics out of games because they hated marginalized people. But now they care about politics because their precious board games and Switch 2 got more expensive...

Organizations and entities successfully sue the President in their official capacity all the time.
If I am materially harmed by taxes I can't sue the government for instance.
If Congress passed a bill that said “anyone named ASCII Goatse on social media is required to pay 100% of their income as taxes”, you would be able to sue them as it would be an unconstitutional bill of attainder
But when they act ultra vires you can absolutely sue them if you have standing.
