Woke up thinking I would like to speak to the manager but there isn’t one right now. Great @hcrichardson.bsky.social reminds us, via Obama and Madison, that we are the manager. https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/december-7-2024

I am so over neo-liberals. Their economic policies of not-listening-to-the people's voice and covering up for the ubers has led us to Trump.
Democracy began to shuffle off the stage w Reagan. Only one trying to change it? Biden. But sadly his age precluded a new dawn.
I have to think long and hard about Obama's approach; tend to agree, but it's a paradigm shift that many Dems are resisting. The Harris campaign showed, imo, that many are not quite ready to abandon identity politics as our modus operandi, with tragic results for the country. Change comes hard.
I wonder if it's because they see so many Republicans that don't care about anyone but the wealthy and they can't see any Republican coming to the table in good faith to do good for the country?
I just participated in a pilot called the Grand Bargaining which was an example of this very topic where there were 5 or 6 key topics (Economy, Healthcare, Taxes, Education, etc) where there was a key proposal with sub points for each, & in break out sessions we reviewed a topic and either 1/2
Agreed with the original proposal or made changes / additions. It was hard coming together in the groups not knowing who supported Trump and who didn't. I was cautious and honestly thought they would not come to the table with positive intent. It was hard but could be useful.
It reminds me of an exchange between HRC and some Black activists in 2016. She argued the focus needed to be on legislation not on getting the other side to admit they’re wrong and stop being racist. The activists were outraged but I saw it as practical acceptance of flawed human nature.

Thanks for the great reply.
I'm not sure how our opposition to plutocratic rule will look as we enter 2025. It will largely depend on what the plutocrats try to force on us all.
