Everyone should make a pilgrimage to https://nmaahc.si.edu/ while they still can... The realest American history, told so powerfully. Allow at least a full day. (You need a timed-entry pass, but it's free.)

AAMP in Philadelphia is also vaut le voyage, not least because you'll see Colonial America in literal living color. And the temporary exhibitions are always stellar. #realAmericanhistory
And all white people should make a pilgrimage to Alabama to experience @eji.org. Republikans have always wanted to go backward for a reason. https://legacysites.eji.org/
I loved the crowd. I grew up really integrated, and being in the scene at the museum filled me with such joy. We are ALL Americans and should be celebrated :). Let’s hope they can hang on!!
I visited the MLK Muesum in Memphis 3 years ago I learned so much that I had never known about African-American history after slavery and pre-civil rights movement. To experience that museum is absolutely incredible. It brought me to tears several times, especially when exiting. IYKYK
Yep. But much as I appreciate learning from these museums (Carter, Atlanta etc) I get so pissed that the American history we all had shoved down our throats was so literally whitewashed.
It is beyond a tragedy what Trump wants to do to the Smithsonian, the National Museum of African American History & Culture, and the Women's History Museum. You can't rewrite history, facts--what you have left are lies, not history. Not surprising from an administration built on lies . . .
It’s a beautiful and moving museum that not only tells the true story of our history but shows the African American ability to persevere and thrive inspite of us. When I asked my 8 yo what he remembered most it was the Emmett Till memorial. I’m grateful we visited before it is whitewashed
I can't blame you. At least visit @eji.org digitally. This shithole country has been trying to atone, which is why there is such a backlash right now. https://legacysites.eji.org/about/
If only. Instead, the racist in chief is trying to destroy the museum. AAMP in Phila is putting a lot online https://aampmuseum.catalogaccess.com/ & @eji.org has many powerful digital experiences.
