Asking someone to be honest after they state something is literally calling someone a liar. It’s casting doubt. You don’t doubt when you think someone is truthful.

“Casting doubt” is not “literally calling someone a liar.” Asking “are you telling the truth” is not the same as saying “you’re lying”, and an honest person would understand the difference. But it’s a moot point, because you did later reveal yourself to be dishonest 🤷♂️
Ok sure! At least I know the when someone says they are alike because they are mediocre and not immediately go “oh you think they have similar plots.”
