I got thru it by not focusing on the Star Trek aspect, just treating it as a space action movie. Bc if they wanted to make it good, that movie could’ve been a 10 1 hour episode mini series where the audience would become invested in the characters and action.

I did buy Enterprise on Vudu recently. I'm having a hard time finding the need to rewatch it again.

I do own all of Star Trek on either Prime Video or Vudu except S5 of Discovery, never on sale solo, S5 of Lower Decks and Section 31, which both aren't currently available for purchase.

I had similar thoughts. I would have thought if any Trek was going to be serious and suspenseful, it would have been one on Section 31. All subversion, and espionage, and skillful manipulation. Instead we got "We have Guardians of the Galaxy at home".

That is a tough bridge of contrasts. Section 31 originally appeared on TOS, but was generally just referenced until recently. Perhaps Season 1&2 of DISCO before being able to absorb Sec31 properly 🤷🖖

Yep...pretty sure my old man brain confused the 2. Earliest I recalled was William Sadler's appearance on DS9, Season 6, Episode 18 "Inquisition". In written form I recall they created Sec 31 at the same time as The Federation to keep tabs. I relent 🎩

I didn't say it was perfect. But I also don't believe that it is I who dictates what's proper Star Trek and what's not. I'm not a huge fan of Lower Decks, but I don't think I get to decide for every other Trekkie what they have to like or dislike. To each their own. No apologies necessary.

I'd have enjoyed something based on Starfleet Intelligence, and seeing how they were able to achieve their aims while still adhering to Federation laws and standards without giving the enemy the advantage.

Focusing on Section 31 was always going go end badly.

There were some intriguing parallels drawn between Pa’nar syndrome and HIV stigma.

The problem with Section 31 is that the characters aren't reserved Starfleet. They're gregarious.

And that it was shot like a TV show pilot. Not enough time to dial in the characters. A little more rehearsal time would have made a world of difference.

The thesis was the evolution of Burnham from being a closed off, unloved, logic driven mutineer, to Captain w/ love in her heart/life.
The backdrop mystery every season just changed in exciting/interesting ways. But Burnham's journey progressed in the expected way, if you understand story structure.
