I need a backup to use when I lose all my protonmail stuff because I didn't keep track of my password and my phone logged me out.. something like that, it was frustrating..
I’n planning to do so but you first have to solve the strange behaviour with photo’s.
I want to be able to browse photo’s, stored to the file section the way it works in the photo section.
I want to use it more, but the main idea of ProtonMail is not to give out your main email and to use an alias, and not even having a single alias available for free makes it hard to use or recommend, while mainstream ones do.
We can only use some forwarding aliases from ProtonPass (awesome manager). Mail feels too important to risk losing access to it the moment a sub is paused, so still using what works.
I mentioned in the thread that Mail doesn't have free aliases (diff addresses you can send and receive with), and ProtonPass's aliases are only forwarding aliases, you can't send with them.
i assume the goal is to have a user move their gmail data to proton, but its counterintuitive to lock email space behind this task for users with no data to move. locking space behind tasks at all is weird.
I use the combo of protonmail and a alias address from their sister company. Works perfect and I can delete anytime. Their vpns are pretty sweet as well :)
You for sure can use a different email, though I won't blame anyone for missing it in the sign-up options because they WANT you to miss it.
But regardless, unless you are actively posting content I usually recommend using a different frontend for youtube if possible and avoiding log-in.
Cartel indeed. We have the same problem with email sent from our ERP system Odoo at work. The big ones in email make deals with the big ones in security and the rest gets set to spam or bounced.

Keep up the good work!

But beware the Proton push to link your Gmail and Proton accounts for more free space if you are seeking digital privacy 😸.
Appreciate everything you do @proton.me
It's just "conveniently" shoved in a corner in the webpage.

looks like a cartel thing to me, but might be simply small adoption.
