Agree, but user identification is sensitive. I understand the reasons for that, but I don't want these corporations or goverments to be able to track my views and opinions. Alternative: a silent viewer anonymous profile?

Why not. but to avoid such initiative being perceived by many as censorship and against freedom of speech, we would need to establish in parrallel much more widespread direct democracy participatory systems (citizens assembly, and citizens referendum etc).

You will always be able to email a journalist anonymously etc. I think the question is really about algorithm-driven social media platforms. When these platforms are polluted with millions of anonymous bots propagating fake news and hate, the whole system is rigged.

Activists and journalists may need to be able to disseminate news anonymously. This will have a significant chilling effect and can so easily be abused.

Or imagine for example a govt having a list of all accounts, and their real life identities, on social media that have "LGBT" or a 🏳️‍🌈 in their bio on social media... What ever could go wrong 😬? There's a reason privacy is a human right.

No, it isn't disastrous. Adapting our behaviour to fit the context is essential for a functioning society. We fit how we behave depending in who we talk to, e.g., friend, stranger, child, adult, boss, coworker, etc. Learning to do so is learning how to socialise. Anonymity takes that away.

I know this concern, but I think there are decentralized technical solutions to achieve ID verification without need for centralized registers. What matters is not being able to identify people by their ID but to ensure all participants are humans and not bots.

And for completely ordinary citizens as soon as (some) EU countries happen to elect far-right governments 😬. All powers given to politicians *will be* abused, sooner or later, as power corrupts, even with 'best intentions'. Politicians simply can't be trusted with too much powers.
