I've literally told coworkers I wanted to visit France just to watch the protests. Funny how lopping off people's heads for a few years reminds leaders who they work for.

I visited France once while there was post 9/11 protesting, and was warned to pretend to be Canadian. Like, very seriously.
So just stay real quiet. π
Disturbing to have a group that blinded though. Identifying corruption and protesting it are supportive - what were you warned about? That violence would come to you without inquiry into your stance?
Having grown up closer to Toronto than NYC, when crossing the border was no more hassle than a toll booth, I feel kinship with Canadians that would prevent me from wanting to stain them with the filth this country has become.
My sister has lived in Canada and Australia for 50 years ...she wants me to live up there but I have too many obligations here. I'm truly embarrassed for the way we're treating all of our trade partners.
Yup. We don't like to be trash talked as did Bush Jr and neocons. I'm sorry. And I think your fellow American should expect pretty hard time in Europe. You may not have voted for T47, but the anger will be real.
In France, peaceful protests mostly don't work. The government just doesn't care.
Violent protests *sometimes* work.
For instance, it may work if the protesters are white farmers smearing swine shit on public buildings, not when they are brown-skinned poor suburb folks burning cars and trash bins.
