Last year in Australia I ordered Vegemite on toast just to try it and was immediately repulsed thinking ‘Gawd what the hell’ and then bizarrely proceeded to eat the whole thing and you know what I could use a bit of Vegemite right now

Why is the West so far behind Asia in the creation of cooking liquids that could be called "black sauce of doom" ? Offhand, China alone has like 100. All of Europe has, what, balsamic vinegar and Vegemite?
