nah i fuck with it, it’s just that SDFC is such a generic club—with so few attempts to claim the city’s history in soccer or at large—that people who want to be fans have to go to other things they love as a starting point

there are holdover SGs from Loyal and CA, but the club’s not giving much for new fans to work with and i sympathize with em—honestly, the reason this stands out to me is just cause it reminds me of MNUFC not going much further to “unite minnesota” than “the state bird is a loon and water is blue”

It definitely feels like there's been a shrinking of state-wide/regional SGs for MNUFC. Could be due to MNUFC failing to connect, the rise of USL, or other factors, but that bums me out too.

If 18B can get butts in seats and people are having fun, I say more power to 'em.

If I were a Loyal supporter, I honestly don't know how I would feel about SDFC. The "wound" still feels fresh to me and I had no connection to the club other than KJ!

I don't know that I'd just jump in and support an MLS team that killed my club.

We’ve been there. Its awful. There are still those who will never forgive the hurt cause by the dissolution of STLFC for CITY. The scars run deep but we support soccer in our city 1st and foremost. We always did. Few diehards forgave, we just live with where we are.

MLS didn't kill Loyal IMO. They were just standing over the body when the cops walked in. Loyal drew 4,500 ppl per match and as much as I loved them, they never captured the heart of San Diegans. I saw the Wave come in and avg 20k+ every game and that's when I knew the writing was on the wall.

Depends how formal the ‘process’ is for defining what an SG is but I like the wacky SGs. In Austin we have one that likes Austin icon Leslie Cochran and drinking, one that likes sitting in the opposite end of the stadium and pirates, and one that is built around a rubber chicken.
