Generations of ER docs have now trained since the vaccines and the initial toll will probably be higher. Relearning syphilis and measles is annoying enough. Intubating and managing epiglottitis will be something else entirely. To say nothing of pneumococcal and other invasive diseases 😭

A lot more children die by guns and it's just shrugged off.
Or look at what was OK with Sars-cov-2.
Tons more died and many still harp on about all the damage done by all the late/feeble efforts, vaccines, masks and lockdowns (that still saved millions of lives).

Other than the parents, no one would notice. The disabilities resulting for some might cause a stir, especially when funding for special Ed is cut. But as a society, there is sense of a universal shrug when kids die here. Look at all the school shootings, no actions taken.
