Billy wilder, a German Jew, differentiated Jews in pre War Germany as optimists and pessimists.
The pessimists ended up sitting by a Hollywood pool whilst the optimists ended up in Auschwitz.

Sandwiched between optimistic chickens (poor sods, if only they knew) & a near-classic example of stating the bleeding obvious.
