How could it be any harder than the system of profit and denial that we have now? I believe it would merely be different and less profitable to the status quo.
MedPAC, an ind. congressional agency that advises Congress on issues affecting the Medicare program, found in 2024 alone, Medicare will pay Medicare Advantage (MA) plans at least $83 billion more than what it would cost the government to cover those same enrollees in Traditional Medicare (TM).
Were those other 32 countries composed primarily of homogenous people groups prior to enacting their coverage? That would explain the lack of corruption. In-group are less likely to scam each other.
Getting rid of private, for-profit healthcare is a money problem. But allowing it in the first place was an ideological problem, based on a myth that involves bootstraps.
Bottom line, none of them have made universal healthcare work … when one gets REALLY sick, such as with cancer, one gets to wait for months before they are able to start treatment … which is why they seek treatment outside of their universal healthcare limited countries.
Watching I'm slow motion the theft of American wealth with ZERO consequences...just more and more people trying to get their full from the trough before the payment comes due...
This is exactly right. And what the average person doesn’t understand is that a national health plan with a single risk pool would lower everyone’s cost. And this would be in addition to the elimination of profit.
Surrendering to the Governor, AZ health head Dr Cara Christ lead to one of the highest per capita death rates in the world- after the vaccine introduction.
Healthcare is a very difficult issue. So much so that it is the way it is.
Healthcare is not now or ever free.
You want universal healthcare? Then ask your government to triple your taxes. 32 of the 33 developed countries use it.
I pay 21% in income tax where I live. I have never paid more than that, I am not rich, but, my wife, who doesn't work (disability) receives support from our gov't. Your entire tax system is broken. You are slaves to pharmaceutical companies. How much do you pay for diabetes meds?
The trouble is there are so many loopholes that the rich are paying almost no taxes leaving the rest to make up the shortfall. And politicians don’t do anything to close the loopholes as they are the rich hence benefit from them.
It isn't difficult. Taxes would not be trippled. It's very simple. We live in an oligarchy, which is why our healthcare costs so much money. Greed fuels our healthcare industry.
Greed is in my opinion the worst obstacle in the US. The land of the free allowed that to happen.
The US is not perfect and never has been.
It is the only place that I will live. It is home, right, wrong or indifferent. All we can do is continually try to improve.
Just like anywhere else.
That is entirely unrelated to the fact that you claimed falsehoods. Yes we can improve, but we cannot improve without admitting that there is a problem.
Aside that when you’re not too thick to add just two sums, your tax and your health insurance cost and compare it with 32 other, you’d realise in almost all scenarios Americans are paying more for less. And have zero safety net to fall on if they can’t pay.
I am not and will not say the Healthcare in the US is the best way to handle this huge issue.
My point, is that NOTHING is free anywhere. Universal healthcare will never be free. I pay a pretty penny for my healthcare. But it takes only days or weeks to be seen and I go to any doctor I want.
Takes minutes here when needed. And paying yet waiting weeks is 🤯
Something I witnessed on streets of NYC (similar in San Francisco, DC or Miami): traffic accident victim begging for ambulance NOT to be called as he couldn’t afford it. You’ve gotta be a ghoul to think this should EVER happen.
