DKC’s visuals were lauded in 1994 and still look phenomenal on a CRT (or via a filter, as seen on the NSO version pictured here). It’s a surprisingly rhythmic platformer with clever stage designs and an incredible soundtrack. A game that lived up to the hype and then some.
This was back when CGI was the exotic option rather than the cheap option. Similarly with early CGI movies like Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park. They didn't treat it like the cheap option; they put great care into it, and it shows there, and it shows in this game too.
