Police ransacked the shelves and storerooms for any books depicting the Palestinian flag, and cited a children’s colouring book, FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, as “inciteful material” in their statement.
The attack on the Munas and their stores, beloved and important cultural centers for forty years, is the latest in Israel’s long history of attacking Palestinian intellectual and cultural life.
We at PCB join many others in the literary community and beyond in sending our heartfelt solidarity to Mahmoud and Ahmed and demanding their immediate release. We call on our fellow booksellers and all bookworkers to join us in condemning this outrageous attack on our colleagues in Palestine.
