Blatantly defiant of the Hatch Act. But that only matters if you believe in the rule of law, so Trump has no problem shilling for a private company to make a political statement.
I’m wondering, since pres and vp are apparently excluded from the Hatch Act: Does anyone here know where/if the same prohibitions are covered, re: those two excluded offices?
Trying to look up relevant laws, I found this, in case anyone’s interested:
I forgot, b/c the maga occupiers of the WH are taking us on such a careening Escheresque romp over the bones of Democracy, that _Musk_ IS a federal employee. In theory liable under the Hatch Act. It’s hard to keep track when they’re all leap-frog grifting off of us:
But, if I was going to choose to succumb to hopelessness and not try to find a way out of this, I’d not waste a second of my time or anyone else’s, just bitching about it. It’s deeply opposite of fun, however much we relieve stress with humor. (This comment is about people I know, unfortunately.)
Right on! I’m sure you’ve figured out my post was a provocation for people to stop looking up to fake gods (in Hollywood, on a concert stage, wherever…). The game is up, the rich get richer and increasingly less sensitive to the lot of others less fortunate. When will people finally realise that?
No, clearly not. What is more alarming is that millions of citizens *and* the handful of overlords who have every good reason and the power to stand against them, chose instead to prop them up. And even worse, the fascist rot isn’t only in the US. We’re the canary in the mineshaft.
Point to you. Sigh. I forgot for a moment the times we’re in. Though, some of those who are fighting back, pretty ceaselessly, are lawyers. (e.g. Marc Elias, Democracy Docket.) And judges. So far T ignores or appeals most wins against him, but those fights may deliver cuts that help take him down.
No worries. I’m there with you, and at least tens of millions of others in the US. Right back at ya, though — no giving up or giving in! If we decide we’re not all needed when the chips are all down, then when do we jump in? Only when it’s summertime, and the winnin’ is easy? (Sorry.)
Has he been officially called out as a federal employee? It seems like his role has been so ping-pongy. But yes he would fall under the Hatch Act if so!
