what was she like as an advisor? i used to teach, and i can't imagine trusting AI with any topic (or students!) i cared about even the slightest. i guess what i'm wondering is, is she passionate about anything she teaches? did she care about what you were working on? does she have a heart?

Having trained with her, do you think there Is a rationale/perspective that might be overlooked here by people (e.g., even if the perspective is misguided choosing this course design, maybe something that might justify this effort in their mind)?

no, i think the outrage and skepticism is completely justified. ultimately, i think she’ll do anything to forgo lesson planning/teaching, activities she disdains and doesn’t excel at

My diss advisor spent half the year taking trips abroad, barely talked to me and when she did, told me to “only work on teaching tasks when I would otherwise be sleeping.” Also said “I think you need a union, but why do you have to be the one to organize it?” Oh, what the Yale School hath wrought

I see. Holy cow (or given the course topic, mon dieu!)--it's one thing to bring in a guest lecturer or 2, which can be quite valuable for students, but this is far beyond that--outsourcing one's job.

And for those following this exchange, note that UCLA (like most UC campuses) are only 10 wks long.
