It's been driving me crazy for ages. My husband did not believed me when I told him I had an harder time now researching the meaning of an idiom for example than I did when I started professionally translating, ~4y ago.
Everything is poluted by AI or sponsored pages that don't even remotely help me

I still remember the age when I could google a product and find specs, articles, reviews, news, I mean actual infos about it amd not just hundreds of pages trying to sell me this product and several others vaguely related

There was magazines on line. With journalists. You could read their articles, sometimes interrupted by an ad. Now, after giving full access to your datas to data brokers, you either discover a monthly subscription paywall or an AI generated bs, hidden somewhere under dozens of blinking ads

Been using DuckDuckGo for years now. Did not have to witness the transition to AI-powered Google and I'm glad.

People used to say that alternative search engines weren't as good as Google, but from these posts I feel like this is less and less true.
