"The Constitution is so important that we'll spend years pushing the most radical interpretation of the 1st Amendment and free speech. Except for the 14th Amendment and birthright citizenship. It's not the same. Us nationalists, we love the Constitution, we're not huge hypocrites at all."
"We love life so much that a person is alive from the moment of conception. But execute people, because we love the right to give life as well as death so much.β
"We like science unless it prevents us from making money easily. That's why we're leaving the Paris accords at a time when Florida and California are devastated by the consequences of climate change and people can no longer find insurance. But really, we prefer people to money, hand on heart.β
βForeigners are all criminals, they are disgusting, animals! Not like the people who attack our democratic institutions, who don't have to serve prison sentences. That's justice!β
Ok. Is this a new Star whatever movie or is this...yannow I'll just Google it.
But I'm commenting because that's so deep I had to read it aloud to myself and my senile dogs to really get it.
Andor has some of the best monologues Iβve heard in a long time, and itβs purely about the seeds of the rebellion under the oppression of the Empire.
The series leads up to the events of Rogue One.
Too many parallels with what weβre now witnessing too which makes it all the more compelling.
Andor is the only piece of Star Wars media (including the original movies) that understood what Star Wars is about : not space wizard and space battle, but resistance. I love this show, it can be clunky in places, but the heart is here.
1) no space wizards
2) no extensive Disney green screen
3) no cute droids for toy marketing
4) no toxic fanboy service
5) fascism is bad and must be overthrown.
I actually enjoy space wizards in a story like this, but ONLY as long as they don't overshadow things-just another small part of largescale societal conflict. Just people with diff skills/positions
I do wish Andor had more aliens though but i feel like that's just an issue with star wars in general
Which is good. He helped spark the rebellion. Doesnβt have time to be a cute toy for children, unless theyβve studied Nemikβs Manifesto for the night.
A line of Andor LEGO sets and after that, what? A Karl Marx minifigure with extracts of 'The Capital' stickers to put on the bricks?!! And you have to share these stickers to gather the full book in the schoolyard...
...
I am unto something to change your mind, let's buy some LEGO shares. π

I did like this video about how Andor was different than the rest of Star Wars.

It didn't stay so faithful to the source material, so many adaptations of star wars are sequels tailored for a family viewing experience.
But I want a gritty adult telling of the series.
As opposed to all the "mediocre, but hey, it's Star Wars" products.
I'd throw the entire rest of it away and start afresg with just that one show, if I could, and then have Rogue One absolutely blow everyone away.
Kino: "One Way Out"
Maarva: "I'd wake up early..."
Nemik: "Remember this, Try"
All stick with me to this day.
