Was lucky enough to see him at a dedication concert back in 2017 where a full orchestra performed suites for the films he did posters for while his art was on display. A phenomenal concert for a phenomenal artist. This is such sad news 😭
Of course, we know that this sort of thing can happen to us as we get older (and so it would be nice to CONTINUE TO FUND RESEARCH AND SUPPORT SCIENTISTS), but it's still heartbreaking.
Drew was one of the first artists I liked, long before I became interested in concept art. Huge respect.
If this account still exists in 30 years, I know I'll still be celebrating Drew Struzan's birthday. Because his impact is amazing. How many people have done more to give great classics a visual identity than he has?
Something I loved (and I feel he loved and maybe hated a little) was how many damned Star Wars novel covers he did. It’s absurd they’re all as good as they are. (Ditto the Indiana Jones covers, books I feel that have been forgotten about somehow)

I have been his fan since ‘70s and at last met my god back in 2018 at FanExpo Boston ! He signed on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone page in his illustrations book. He seemed already kinda struggling but very very nice to his fans.
