Currently there's a legal case playing out in Canada on whether American trans people + their families qualify for refugee status up here, and there's talks about either exempting queer people from the "safe third country" requirement or removing the US from the list of safe countries entirely

I would recommend keeping an eye on it if at all possible.

One of the NGOs most closely partnered with the Canadian government has been pretty loud about wanting the gov to allow LGBTQ+ Americans to seek asylum
