A few weeks ago, North Carolina legal counsel tried to direct all university chancellors to "immediately suspend" DEI-related course requirements (even if those requirements were part of a student's chosen major!).
This is all to say that for now, the judicial branch is defending academic freedom. The current administration can't threaten to remove funding if we teach about topics they don't like.
I should have said something like “a federal judge, ruling in favor of the AAUP (among other plaintiffs), has officially blocked…”
But my enthusiasm and desire to get the message out quickly got the best of me, haha.
