A planet that Anakin notoriously hated and reminded him of his time as a slave so much that he hated sand itself, with a family he had no connection to even when he was himself.

It is a strange decision on George's part, but I think it works in the context of the films alone.

Thinking of planets in Star wars more as locales and places, it's closer to if your big bad came from a backwater hellhole that he frequently noted before his fall that he'd never go back to.

Again, a kinda corny, kinda dumb decision esp out of context but I see what George's vision was I think

You know what, I kinda like your take. Like everything else in Star Wars it’s more than an actual ‘thing’. It’s about the way that thing interacts with the people who have experienced it. Tatooine would be a dark place for Anakin 🤷🏿‍♂️

A lot of Star wars, especially under its better creatives like lucas at his best, and Johnson, is far more about the *feeling* of it all. You understand mistakes people make a lot more when you approach it less from a view of fact and a view of the subjective.

It's noteworthy that a lot of Lucas's worst story decisions and bits of new "lore" in the prequels were ostensibly him addressing nerd fan musings, such as the true nature of the force and whatnot.

It's not math, it's philosophy. To use a metaphor
