People are obsessed with the idea that bringing back manufacturing will mean bringing back the upward mobility of the 50s when Trump has explicitly said what he’s going for is the era of industrialization where it was legal to shoot strikers

Republican economic policy only ever fails because those weak-willed RINOs who tried it before didn’t go far enough (this is what they believe not what I believe)
I think he's quiet willing to go you one better and have the government extradite workers to labour camps for you, which is somehow worse than what the governments at the time were willing to do.
It’s almost like a cargo cult. Bringing back manufacturing will bring back strong unions (for the left) and the campy vision of white 50s suburbia (for the right). No actual consideration of the causative effects.
