New guidance tells GPs not to support trans people by providing blood tests. This is under Wes Streeting's political control of the NHS. This isn't healthcare, this is putting people at risk.

I hope you take them to the cleaners in court - why this fixation on Trans people I'll never understand it - leave them alone they are not an issue or political football - it's just small minded nonsense
nice thought, but those like Jolyon already outright abandoned trans after losing once in court. Good Law Project has nothing in mind at all to try fighting this, so their condemnation of this awful guidance means, sadly, less than nothing, as it's worse to think you have allies then be back stabbed
To be fair, there are a many cases GLP weren't involved in where well-funded transphobes won and/or exploited them to incite hate in the willing media.
With courts and media being institutionally trans-hostile, taking cases is a risk just now. Can end with worse harm to trans people. See also USA.
and to be fair, for example in USA many groups fighting against anti-trans laws have lost and their response was not basically say, "well, we lost and now we will never represent any cases concerning trans essentially because it costs too much financially and in social standing"..that was about gist
Many trans rights groups in the US HAVE stopped using the courts to seek redress. Wheels were in motion long before Trump v2 for US v Skrmetti in the SCOTUS, but the court will likely uphold, leading to even more state bans on trans care for minors.
This wasn't done with safety in mind for anyone. Its done specifically to harm us as these blood tests can save us from developing osteoporosis among other things
How anyone can deny Wes is a dirty little fat faced transphobe at this point is beyond me. This is just cruelty
Par for the course under the current SoS, I’m afraid. Do you know whether the new guidance will apply to all trans people needing blood tests, or only those using the DIY route?
Medical care should be left in the hands of medical professionals. The trans community deserve the same care as everyone else. Using trans people for hateful political point scoring is shameful. Britain 🇬🇧 - please don’t follow America 🇺🇸 in the slide to hate. Stay safe - your Australian 🇦🇺 friends.
What is the “trans community”?
An actor and comedian such as Eddie Izzard who parades with rubber t*ts around Brighton? Or a 17 year old girl who may have a double mastectomy as earlier sexual abuse makes her unhappy with her body and chooses to be seen as non-binary?
GLP told me to fuck off when I wanted to bring a case claiming they didn't do trans cases. I found out they did in the newspapers two months later in a case I *could* have been part of.
They've lost every case they've brought.
I don't care for their showboating and claims of allyship.
Or to put it another way.
GPs have been told not to work with private healthcare in facilitating the provision of potentially harmful drugs to children.
The sooner that nasty little transphobe Wes Streeting is out of office the better. He’s pushed this agenda relentlessly since before Labour came into power - he needs to be removed from office as soon as is humanly possible.
I have great respect for what Good Law Project does but I think you misunderstood this matter. GPs are medicolegally responsible for the tests they request, if people have abnormal results (these will be abnormal due to external hormones) they have to act on it. Happy to explain further via DM
It feels like you finished your point half way through. Are you saying GPs shouldn't monitor trans people's health because medication they're taking might affect the results?
Many of these GPs prescribed and monitored trans patients' HRT, which is no more complex than what they still do for, say perimenopausal cis women.
It's a lie to say GPs are not competent. Also, they DO monitor cis patients on other private prescriptions and non-prescribed drugs (eg. bodybuilders.)
So if you see a trans patient with, say, symptoms of poor kidney function and they tell you they're on HRT you wouldn't bother to run any tests because you didn't prescribe the meds that could have caused it? I'm pretty sure my GP doesn't operate that way.
I am sorry if my reply upset you. I would do anything and everything possible for my patient, whoever they are. I was trying to explain the medicolegal angle to Good law project
What can you expect from a government that went out of their way to court R*wlings approval in the election? Nice sensible people demanded a Labour government you could vote for, no 'extremism', no 'ideology', nothing that makes you feel funny, now we're paying for your tantrum.
The fact that 'electability' (a way of saying 'i won't vote for it' without having to disclose your self-interest in not doing so) comes with a commitment against doing anything significant is clear now, so I hope the abstract satisfaction of having been 'moderate' is sufficient comfort.

Faith in US or UK courts right now is dangerous.

When it asks for your biological sex, put in your gender. Trans women will want the female test, trans men will want the male test. You're welcome
