I agree with this sentiment. Was literally like “why don’t we all just big chill somewhere else” but i think an event being present and kinda the catalyst holds a lot of value in addition to getting to see the homies.
Its hard to explain. Being a part of the wider community is why I go too.

yeah definitely. in the past I've tried to meetup with people this way and it feels like the first thing they do is make a value assessment about how if they only get one holiday to spend, they want to maximize the amt of ppl they see (therefore go to an event). but should there be

a concern about no immediate events in place then there's nothing that says ppl can only meetup where sm64 setups are present. ppl don't need a singular leader to organize and host a whole tournament. you could take dozens of ppl to a place with some deposits from interested parties and rent a

I've done a few homie meetups over the years and I think they're more enjoyable. I love just like going to an arcade or something, having some dinner, and generally vibing. It's cheaper and not having to hang out at a venue is fantastic

yeah. a big part of me not wanting to go to events is because the vibe I get is most ppl are actually bored and wandering around aimlessly like 90% of the time when there isn't a hotel party going on. and it's like... idk we could do other things with our money
