I actually really want to combine some "matte" paintings with 3d backgrounds, could be really useful in a fixed camera game where you can have some huge vistas
yeah trying to give it that look by lowering the resolution for backgrounds + reducing colors just for those, and blending it back by having the background objects render as "pass through" so that foreground stuff can go behind. Doing it by depth would me more correct but heh
this is so cool! one thing that i think interferes with the illusion a bit is the yellow sparkle particle effects will sometimes be behind or clip through the grass.
