I wonder if Spurs' "Don't call us Tottenham" edict is using similar thinking to FSG's attempts to trademark "Liverpool" (which failed because you can't trademark a placename)? If they can stop people from just saying "Tottenham" then they could bring legal cases against unauthorised sellers.

Max I cannot believe you said LFC walked the league during the Covid year. We won it the year BEFORE the Covid season with no fans. For the most part when we won it there were fans IN grounds. The picture shows the league when Covid stopped play. I really must insist you correct the record next pod.

sure, but i'm not sure why it's a big deal? I couldn't remember the last team to walk the league - a liverpool fan got in touch to tell me it was the year that covid hit, I said that on the pod - and maybe 3 liverpool fans see it as some kind of insult?

I take it as one! “Media”, “narrative” and “peddled” were not my words, and I for one just thought it was an offhand comment with no ill meaning. It’s just that some people DO say we won it BECAUSE of Covid. You yourself say “we walked it during Covid”, when we didn’t.

We’d already walked it before Covid started. 25 points is the biggest gap in the PL ever. We achieved that before Covid is my point. If anything City have “the covid title” but I wouldn’t say it diminishes their achievement, but of course no one else says that either. Just about ours.

It's an annoyance more than anything. Opposition fans parrot it like it's fact, so when some in the media use the same rhetoric - even in throwaway comments - it grates.

And of course it grates that fans weren't allowed to properly celebrate - hoping this year could be cathartic.
