Thanks for this article. It makes me wonder if I have trouble with statistics for the same reason that I have trouble with quantum physics: because many of the core concepts are not the way humans experience the world. (1/4)

If I have bad experience x, and there was an obvious (but not necessarily determanitive) detail y, avoiding y in the future is a way I can control for x. Selecting on the dependant variable probably won't have significant negative consequences. At least, not as bad as that horrible x. (2/4)
