On my drawing posts I’m assuming the post text is doing the job that the alt text would do, so I’m not adding any, but if I’m wrong in that approach lemme know.

it’s definitely better to include alt text that describes what the image is. i usually do something quick like “pencil and paper drawing of [x]” and include little details like maybe pose, items the subject is holding, facial expression.
Always do alt text because the Bluesky default is to censor all pics without alt text. (Must click the pic to show it) there’s a setting to bypass this but I’m not sure everyone know it’s there.
it is better to also do an alt text description of the art. the point of alt text is accessibility, including for people who are visually impaired. unless your post text is a description of the drawing with the words "this is a drawing of..."
That's probably explicit enough to skip the alt.
If your post text is an actual description, then I would just copy that text into the alt. It isn't a ton of extra time, and it promotes engagement here.
