It's definitely fun and enjoyable but you can tell the writers just kinda winged it with plot points after the first two seasons

I think it’s more shipbaiting? Shiro didn’t suddenly become straight (especially at the ending from clips I remember). Unless you mean the Klance stuff which I can’t say much of having only seen like…3 episodes? Lol

Oh I'm very much meaning Klance. The show itself didn't bait it necessarily but the crew and marketing team used the ship as well as the idea of it being a possibility quite a bit to rope in viewers.

For example, Netflixs preview scene for the show for awhile was specifically a Keith/Lance scene that had soft looks and romantic golden hour lighting from the final season 💀

And the crew hyped up Shiro being "explicitly gay" in season 7 only for his fiance to be a minor side character, revealed as romantically involved with him in one vague line, die a few episodes later, and then promptly forgotten. Netflix even added rainbow colors to the show poster for 7s release 🫠

It also had the issue of Gen:Lock of not respecting it's origins as a mecha show lol. Showing it less and less to try and "be different. Focus on characters"

Seasons 3-6 are enjoyable & have moments of greatness but imo they feel really unfocused compared to the rest of the show. The Zarkon return especially just felt pointless. And it doesn't help that it's actually the practice of what's really two seasons released as four to save money 🫠

The whole Lotor situation is soured for me because it felt like the writers cared more about “surprising” the audience instead of creating a satisfying arc.

I still find it hilarious that season 8 kinda sorta had Honerva bring him back as a zombie but you never actually see him. You just get a bunch of lines of people insisting the mech is piloted by him 😂
