RFK Jr said he wants to send folks who are taking antidepressants and ADHD medications to "wellness farms" in rural America where they will be forced to labor by growing organic food to "cure their addictions."

Yeah that’s a great question. Unfortunately I think a lot of families already push their autistic children into “treatment” centers against their will, and this will only further reinforce those approaches. But an individual, self-supporting autistic adult won’t be forced into anything

That's what I feel too.

The biggest people who are going to be affected by this are going to be kids stuck with shitty or gullible parents, and that's really unfortunate.

It’s a good point, you’re right. Vulnerable people without their own autonomy will be pushed into these by misguided family members. I hope there’s something we can do to help these proposals from becoming a reality

The headline here is deliberately sensationalized to infer forced labor camps. It’s easily believable since this administration is already so batshit, I get it. But we don’t need to further reinforce panic, we need that energy going to productive countermeasures

The article is also from July of 2024, when he was merely running for ̶P̶r̶e̶s̶i̶d̶e̶n̶t̶ a Cabinet Position, so while I do believe he BELIEVES that food and labor can "fix" people who are depressed, have adhd (he's nuts), this isn't actually intended policy. Yet. 😬

That sounds significantly better. I think routine and task-orientation can help with stuff like that, but it should never involve ripping people from their homes and lives and families.

Not to be a little shit, but they also said they weren't doing Project 2025. I don't trust them for a second and even if it's voluntary how good could it be when it's dreamed up by a guy who doesn't believe in psychiatry or medication.

No yeah, I get it. There’s always still that chance they’re gonna take it to the extreme as we’ve already seen. I guess instead of panicking, we should try to take that energy into opposing these proposals before they become something worse
