One thing that becomes clear to me every single time I play through vintage video games on old hardware is that, today, we REALLY take auto saves for granted. ðŸ˜

Really hated when the game would crash and you would lose all that progress you made because you forgot to save at a checkpoint or haven't saved in hours 🫣
I can't remember what game it was but there was a modern game I played not too long ago that made a point of not having autosaves and I think I had a powercut or something and lost all of my progress lol
Ohhh yeah I know that. That’s why I was born in 2000, I decided to avoid in major part having to deal with this issue. But you are dealing with this problem. #Skillissue #GitGud #YoteiOnOctober2
I mean so do it… but when you play an old game that doesn’t just let you manual save whenever you want and you don’t have auto saves you’ll miss them.
I lost too much Pokemon progress as a kid to what I believed was the save malfunctioning, that I still save twice in a row in Pokemon, just to be sure. I now imagine that was my own forgetfulness.
But Lord forbid you thought you were on a hot streak and didn't write down the level code.

I had something similar happen in RE3 and I was pulling my hair out
There's me playing the Oblivion remake and quick saving every 10-20 minutes it feels like 🤣
I’m talking about before auto saving existed. A lot of games would only have save areas not just the ability to manual save whenever you wanted
It could result in a ton of lost progress
But it's so common to watch ppl play older games on YouTube and never think to save cos autosaves have ruined them
But Lord forbid you thought you were on a hot streak and didn't write down the level code.
Nothing like getting 3-5 hours into a game, fuck up, then realize you didn’t save that entire time
