Genuinely, an attempt is better than nothing.
You don't have to be super detailed. How would you describe it to a friend who wasn't looking/couldn't see? Get the general Vibe and Intent of the art or image and that will be good enough. Promise!
Equating it is the same as saying people asking for braille are trying to steal your fingerprints. It's a feature users NEED being taken advantage of, if anything.
At the end of the day: if you can't - you can't! And that's fine.
My goal here isn't to shame anyone for the inability to write alt text, it's to encourage and inform people that a little extra effort (*where it can be spared*) can go a long way for others!
