It feels like they lost focus on who their audience was (genuine queer people vs. entry level baby queers and/or allies) so the tone shifts wildly between coddling babified safe-space language (that feels overdone even for beginner players like me) and genuine but not-quite-there "camp" 😔💦

Its hard to take the rulebook seriously when it refers to the conflicts of the story as "Toxic Powers" while also having a move called "Big Dyke Energy" and telling you not to use that word if it makes people uncomfortable...but then keeps saying everyone is valid forever...

Like....the art slaps!! Concepts are fun and cool!! Love the archetypes they chose and the associated skills and mechanics....(though those, too, have a lot of....lack of substance/different motivations)

But this is just a very slight and VERY mild preview of the tone throughout, and uhhh...hrmm.

Ultimately and in spite of my own grievances, it does seem like a lovingly put together system.

I think folks like me who tend to prefer a more story/narrative driven, co-operatively played (and likely more casual) ttrpg experience would have a lot of fun playing up the tropes in the archetypes!!

Also like. Tbh? For the art alone, the price was worth it. There's a lot of art, a lot of beautiful full page splashes and small illustrations... it's very nicely put together, and still offers a decent starting point, so however I feel about the writing matters less than what one does with it! :3

YEAHHHH... it's just sad bc I can TELL the core ideas are there!! And I can definitely work with them, expand on them, etc - it just feels oddly frustrating to see all the potential and cool stuff they had going on, but watching it just miss the mark retroactively...???? OTL

Iirc I had seen people mention it was a kickstarter project originally, and some speculated they suffered from kickstarter creep but couldn't keep up and I can definitely see that being the case, if true?

Feels like....lots of fluff. Lots of little tangents 95% of players dont Need (or want???)
