In this particular instance I don’t think this applies. Porter chose not to run for re-election in the House and instead ran for senate. She finished 3rd in the primary, behind Adam Schiff, who ultimately won and will be a great (I hope) senator.
She also claimed the primary was rigged after losing
I just wish she hadn't run for Senate against Adam Schiff - we were bound to lose one of them from the House. I think her House seat would've been safe for a long time

Yes, she is. One of the most outspoken people on Medicare advantage and I absolutely adored her for that and many many other things. 100% a national treasure.
I met her on several occasions and I agree with you 100% I was so incredibly humbled and honored. I will share the video or you can watch it on my YouTube channel of her explaining on her whiteboard about how Medicare advantage programs are corrupt. It was quite the moment and she is so awesome.🙏🙏💜💜
She really was one of the GOATs of Congress. She spoke down to power, and up to The People. Her approach to government should be emulated by more Democrats if they want the electorate behind them

That is why people are annoyed with her. Wanted her to stay in the House rather than try for the Senate where others with more backing were waiting for Feinstein to leave. Her jumping the queue was a rare miscalculation of hers.
Her hubris got the better of her. There was no way she was going to leapfrog over Schiff for Senate. She got some very bad political advice from someone. She will be missed in Congress. David Min is no Katie Porter.

Adam Schiff did not take her seat. She would have won if she would have run for Congress. (Dem Dave Min won). She decided to run for the US Senate and Schiff won. I hope she runs for Congress again, we love her in the OC!

Yeah. They were all fine candidates— I voted for Schiff— but I wish they had worked it out between themselves early on and thrown their support behind one. We couldn’t afford to lose a seat.
You are sooooo right. But I suspect that the kind of ego it takes to be a politician doesn’t fit that model very well. I think that’s the kind of strategic thinking that the party leaders used to enforce, long long ago. Smarter!
Unfortunately, I think her crying "rigged" after losing the primary for the senate did her in. Especially specifically using that word. People lost a lot of respect for her. It was very disappointing. She's brilliant, and we need her! I truly hope she makes a comeback!
She didn't run for her Congressional seat (nor did Schiff or Lee) so that someone would have time to focus on the campaign. Dave Min held the district by only 2% (10,000 votes).
While I love that she is an amazing fact finder, so is Schiff. I used to be a huge Porter supporter but what she did to Maxime Waters ended that love affair. Once someone loses the support of Black women, it's hard to come back from that. I vote like a Black woman.
I think Peter speaks for many of us. I voted for you for the Senate seat. My top priority is to confront and hold all corrupt govt officials accountable. Any corruption should result in an immediate removal as the peoples representative. Next: overturn Citizens United & get lobbyists out of DC.
Her billwas to hold insurance companies accountable for treating mental health care the same as physical health care. After plans covering public servants fell short in covering mental health care, Congresswoman Porter introduced a bill to close a legal loophole and improve their coverage. Thank u!
