The appeals court in NC is set to hear this case in March and Griffin is not recusing. Another judge who donated to his campaign is also not recusing. The only people who can ask them to recuse are the voters whose votes are being challenged.

Quick back story: Justice Allison Riggs was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2023. She ran for re-election to her seat (a seat Democrats NEEDED to hold to take back the Supreme Court by 2028 to reverse partisan gerrymandering.) she defeated a Republican Judge by 734 votes.

short backstory continued: the state went through two recounts that confirmed 734 votes. Four months ago, republicans and Republican Judge Jefferson Griffin (who lost) challenged the votes of 60,000 people who did everything right including showing voter ID in the Nov. election.

Now why does this relate to defeating Trump and national Republicans? Republicans are challenging 67k voters. The majority of those voters classify as something called “HAVA” voters. The Help Americans Vote Act (HAVA) was a federal piece of legislation passed in 2002 after 9/11. What did HAVA do?

HAVA asked each state to require one of two numbers to be attached to each person’s voter registration form: either the drivers license number or the last 4 digits of the social security number of the person registering to vote. Anyone registered BEFORE 2002 was grandfathered in.

That last line is the one to read carefully. This is a FEDERAL piece of legislation. Which means HAVA voters are in EACH state in the country. And republicans right now are trying to use their case in North Carolina to set a legal precedent to challenge voters in all of them.

this is legal groundwork for a social credit system that Elon Musk wants to institute in the U.S. It establishes that a database record has absolute authority, even when it's data does not reflect reality. Citizens should be able to correct the record.

He’s challenging more than just THE 60,000 HAVA voters (those are the ones cherry-picked out of the top 5 counties for D’s) but he also is challenging military voters who were not able to include a copy of their ID when they sent back mail-in ballots, and other miscellaneous voters too.
