In 2023 for the first time ever, worldwide, there were no commercial jet crashes that resulted in a fatality. Flying is insanely safe. But yeah there’s a lot of recency bias now w the spate of accidents.

Iirc there hasn’t been a fatal accident involving a major US airline since 2001.

(The recent crashes have been regional carriers, which may be a distinction without a difference but it remains true.)

This was a non-towered general aviation (GA) airport, so no ATC directing takeoffs/landings. Relies on pilots using standard operating/comms procedures, so pilot error the likely culprit here. *lot* more incidents in GA vs. commercial, HUGE gulf in safety

hell, i've never been wild about flying even during the good times. I guess when there's more than 2-3 a day, like school shootings, media will simply stop covering these events.
