And yes, my hand grip is unusual, I’ve been told a thousand times. I can’t hold a pen any other way. The ONLY other person I’ve met who also holds their pen like a gremlin is my husband who is also an artist @massiveface.bsky.social

I'm not autistic but I am hypermobile & have to hold my pen really tight & parts of my fingers bend backwards a bit.
Its not like there is a written norm for holding your pen the right way while drawing. :'D
And the pen gripping.. I still meet often people who hold the pen in various ways x)
I was googling how other people do it and apparently there are some kind of (torture) devices to strap kids’ hands to pencils in the “correct” position now.
My wife is an occupational therapy assistant, and there are apparently names for most hand grips. I can't remember what this one is called. I sometimes use it as an alternate if my fingers or wrist hurts.
Jokes on them tho I hold my pen differently every time I draw 😈 no consistency!!!
Constantly in trouble in kindergarten for taking the awful triangular grip off my pencil. I could already write and had a comfortably established hand position that couldn't be done with the stupid triangle
