it's been 11 years and I still don't really undestand why people think Dark Souls 2 sucks
like, legit, everyone always say it, but I've never heard a sound argument

Souls games supposed to punish you in an engaging way, not "oh my fucking GOD" way 🤷 I'm saying this as a person with terrible patience who really likes DS1
Lackluster bosses, annoying progression, clunky in game movement, agility, disjointed world design, bad enemy attack animations, etc.
If you genuinely want to hear in depth I can go in more depth.
The bosses feel like they lack engaging gimmicks, the decreasing HP bar on death feels a bit too punishing at times, weapons degrade way too quickly, and some enemy placement leads to constant ganging on.
I think again it's mostly that dying (especially if you don't retrieve your souls) ends up feeling too punishing at times.
My contention essentially boils down to the Adaptability stat; anything else is nitpicking.
