Take note of which media outlets are reporting on this and which are running the "third Trump term?!" trial balloon

After adding today's new polls, Trump's approval rating has hit a new low of 43.6%, down from 49.4% on day one of his term. His new record-low net rating of -9.4 is now lower than his rating at this point in his first term. Worst-ever approval for a POTUS 100 days in.

Polls lag events and a lot of people are both not paying attention and willing to give the president the benefit of the doubt. A grade schoolers grasp of politics.

I’m torn on the third term thing, because on one hand it’s obviously a dumb distraction, but on the other he clearly fantasizes about it and he’ll want his lackeys to grind away at the constitutional obstacles until it goes to SCOTUS. It would be helpful if the media didn’t normalize it first.

Yeah, to me the proper response to any third term talk should just be to derisively tie it back to his shitty, unpopular policies. Like "oh, Epstein Don wants a third term? Why, will there still be cancer research he hasn't defunded by then?"

I get he wants us to talk about it so that he's not an incredibly unpopular lame duck, and once he put it out there, he's like, actually, that sounds good.

But I keep going back to: he'll be 83!!! He's clearly nearly functioning now. He does nothing to maintain/improve his health.

The problem with the media outlets who are obsessing about his polls is that he’ll do the smallest most inconsequential thing which may increase his polls slightly and then the big story is that he’s going up in the polls even though his numbers will still be historically dog shit.
