People overlook the symptoms of Long Covid are similar to depression and the two are not mutually exclusive due to the damage that Covid inflicts across the entire body. Often Long Covid can trigger major depression.

Oh yeah. Really, any nerve damage and nerve depression are really hard to differentiate upstream without either digging in directly or looking for conditions where depressed nervous response stops but damage wouldn't.

uh, interesting! I didn't know that! I do consume way too much salty food (quick meal) during depression. So, my taste buds are like a dying plant! 😲

Yep! It's actually one of the physical symptoms that has been mapped to counter the argument that depression is purely psychological. We literally can see a weaker nervous response to stimuli!

A lot of similarities, and while I haven't read a lot of the research in this area my understanding is: Not a lot because long covid produces nervous damage rather than nervous depression, but the issue is complicated by the fact that comorbidity of depression and long covid is significantly high.

Mmmm, depression being a symptom of long covid would require establishing a clear causality that I personally haven't heard yet. This is even more complicated because anything that produces decreased functionality can have the knock-on effect of producing or exacerbating depression.
